The Antioch Company
The Antioch Company develops, manufactures and sells diversified consumer
product lines. The company was enjoying explosive growth within its
domestic and international channels, but had reached a critical point,
finding that its manufacturing and distribution infrastructure could no
longer effectively support that growth. After doubling its operational
capacity, Antioch realized it needed an expansive system to translate this
physical growth into additional profits. They turned to Waterstone
Consulting to deliver an advanced business solution that would drive
bottom-line results.
Business Strategy
Waterstone Consulting's expertise in both SAP and complex warehouse
management systems meant they were well equipped to meet the key business
objectives Antioch was seeking:
Technology Strategy
Antioch determined that a best of breed technology solution would be
required to meet these critical business objectives. SAP R/3 was selected
as the enterprise-wide operational backbone; the SAP SD, MM, WM, and PP
modules would be implemented across the company's operational areas.
Deciding that a third party warehouse management system would be needed to
support the company's complex shipping and distribution needs, Antioch
relied on Waterstone Consulting's knowledge of SAP core processes to help
deliver a system that could directly integrate with, and be controlled by,
the SAP R/3 system. This tight synchronization would ensure system
stability and speed, and provide additional automation and optimization
solutions within the company's production and distribution areas. The
seamless integration of the core ERP processes was integral to the success
of the overall solution.
Customizations to the SAP R/3 system were quickly configured utilizing SAP
methodologies. By combining SAP implementation best practices models with
specialized business process knowledge, the Waterstone Consulting team was
able to efficiently direct the project towards meeting the aggressive
implementation date, while also laying the foundation for future
enhancements.
External distribution, production and materials handling subsystems were
integrated into SAP leveraging the R/3 Business Framework architecture.
Utilizing the ALE, IDOC and BAPI capabilities of the Business Framework
architecture as the development tool base, tight, real-time integration was
achieved to deliver a robust, end-to-end enterprise solution. Seamless
integration between SAP and the company's new warehouse management system
enabled Antioch to utilize its centralized SAP repository of information to
respond to customer inquiries, report inefficiencies, and track the
distribution process from order entry to fulfillment.
Project Approach
By teaming with Antioch project managers, area leads and business analysts,
the project team was able to complete development in only 4 months (MJS1),
while simultaneously transferring knowledge of the new systems and
processes to Antioch. Additionally, through utilization of progressive
business transformation techniques, Waterstone Consulting helped Antioch
effectively rollout business changes throughout its organization.
Project Success
Today, Antioch's bottom line continues to grow due to dramatically improved
business processes across the company: streamlined, automated operations,
decreased operating costs, better access to critical information and
enhanced customer service.
